Our Story

Our Story

On May 6, 1976, eight families launched the beginning of a small visionary church. The first Sunday School service was held at MacKenzie State Park with 27 people present, 15 of which were adults. For several months, the congregation met at different locations until the purchase of an existing church building in the Northeast corner of 42nd Street and Avenue J in July, 1977.

As a result of a steadily growing congregation, in 1981 a new sanctuary with a seating capacity of 150 was added to the existing building. As the ministries of the church grew and reached out to the community, the construction of even a bigger sanctuary was on the horizon. God’s never-ending blessings made it possible for the church to purchase the surrounding land on 42nd and Avenue J on November 11, 1990. In late 1993, construction of a new sanctuary at the same location began due to much needed classroom space. With a seating capacity of 400, the new sanctuary was completed and dedicated to the Lord on November 18, 1995.

In 1996, ‘Templo Emanuel’, also known as Emmanuel Assembly, was incorporated and was named Emmanuel Worship Center Assembly of God. In 2001, we were able to purchase our existing facilities at 1102 70th Street on 15 acres of land.

With God’s guidance, our vision still remains to become reality. With continual spiritual and numerical growth, we will do our part to bring more souls into the Kingdom of God, helping to create new and stronger relationships with our Savior. This in turn will make our congregation united in one accord with the same vision.
